Manny Torres is an Atlanta, Georgia, transplant from Brooklyn, New York. Perras Malas, meaning Bad Bitches in Spanish, is the loose prequel to this book and made it to the LGBTQ+ crime bestseller’s list. Before that, he penned the road-noir novella Dead Dogs, was inspired by the time he spent living in East Atlanta Village and eccentric group of friends he made there. Dead Dogs is the first part of the Dog Trilogy which continues with Perras Malas, concluding with Cabrones Perros. His second novella, Father Was a Rat King was based on his experiences living in Baltimore, MD and growing up in pre-gentrification New York City.
For over a decade, Torres was programmer and co-conspirator on Step Outside: The Strange and Beautiful music program on WMNF 88.5FM radio in Florida. A film fanatic from a very young age, his favorite films are Mad Max, Jaws, 8 ½, Fitzcarraldo, and It’s a Wonderful Life. He enjoys abstract painting inspired by Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock and has been a photographer for over 30 years. His favorite band of all time is King Crimson and looks after several cats.
